The benefits of Ayurveda on the body and mind

During a trip to Sri Lanka, you quickly realise the importance of Ayurveda in the daily life of the locals. This form of medicine originated in India and has existed for many thousands of years. While it improves good health, it is also used as a true philosophy of life that stems from Hinduism and Buddhism.

Ayurveda on the mind

One of the proven benefits of Ayurveda on the mind is improved sleep. Various remedies are proposed to avoid insomnia. For example, the practice of yoga and meditation are activities that are often recommended by specialists. This allows you to enter a state of intense relaxation, allowing the muscles to relax whilst helping relieve the mind. Positive thoughts develop and also help reduce stress and anxiety.

Ayurvedic self-massage, the use of essential oils, changes in eating habits, drinking herbal tea or herbal teas also promote better quality sleep. These are all habits that can lead to greater concentration and emotional well-being. In fact, the accumulation of all of these practices makes it possible to work on several problems simultaneously. Sleep is hard to come by when you are under stress, anxiety or emotionally disturbed, and this often leads to impacts on your body. Is Ayurveda the key to well-being?

Ayurveda on the body

The virtues of Ayurveda on the body are multiple. Traditional healers in Sri Lanka are primarily concerned with relieving pain in the body. Whether in hotels or resorts, there are many cures and therapies available on the island. This alternative form of medicine can initially soothe the temporary pains brought on by everyday life. The remedies are then available in supermarkets or pharmacies, such as Ayurvedic balms or infusions.

Some chronic diseases can be made more bearable thanks to Ayurvedic therapies. For example, symptoms of asthma, osteoarthritis and diabetes often improve when specialists work on diet, lifestyle and Ayurvedic massage. These techniques, which aim to strike a balance between body and mind, can also improve other types of inflammation and lower blood pressure. Consequently, the risk of stroke or cardiac arrest is considerably reduced depending on the individual.  Cholesterol, digestive or hormonal problems are also helped by Ayurvedic medicine, which involves detoxification of the body before any treatment can begin.
