SRI LANKA CUISINE

Colourful, spicy and diverse, Sir Lankan cuisine is wonderful in every sense. Menus in the Indian Ocean island’s restaurants are replete with specialities featuring rice, curries and fish. Recipes make the most of local ingredients that elevate dishes to an elite level of flavour, including cardamon, cinnamon or cloves, all of which grow on trees on the island. Outside, street food is the order of the day and a constant source of delight for tourists on the hunt for new tastes. Sri Lanka also boasts rare fruits such as mangosteen and, of course, bountiful coconut trees, whose fruit is used both in savoury dishes and desserts. You simply must try a Pol Sambol (a side dish with rice, spices and grated coconut), Pol Roti (coconut bread) and Wattapalam (a coconut pudding)... You get the idea: Sir Lankan cuisine is full of wonders for you to discover.
